The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) started distributing Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) assistance to 2,394 beneficiaries in Compostela, Davao de Oro on Monday.

Each recipient will receive PHP5,122 in financial aid to help families still recovering from severe flooding and landslides triggered by a shear line in February.

DSWD-11 reported that the first batch included 1,110 residents from Barangay San Miguel and another 1,284 from Barangay Ngan.

“The cash grant is intended to address immediate survival requirements, such as purchasing food, securing necessary medications, and covering other basic household expenses while families work to restore their livelihoods,” the agency said.

The ECT program is one of DSWD’s primary post-disaster interventions, providing swift, direct, and equitable relief to support early recovery and strengthen community resilience.

In a statement, DSWD-11 regional director Rhuelo Aradanas said the agency’s commitment to providing aid efficiently is evident, highlighting that the ECT program offers financial assistance while restoring dignity and hope to affected families.

“As the rollout continues, we assure the public that all qualified beneficiaries will be served and no family will be left behind in the recovery process,” Aradanas said.

The ECT program is implemented in close coordination with local government units, guided by a rigorous validation process to ensure assistance reaches the most vulnerable households. (PNA)
