A total of 1,430 residential units will rise in this city under the government’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program.

Named Pueblo de Cauayan, the project is a tripartite partnership between the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Ropali Land, Inc. and the Cauayan City local government unit.

The project located in Barangay San Fermin was formally launched on Tuesday, with the rites graced by DSHUD regional director Eleanor Uboan, Cauayan City Mayor Caesar Dy Jr. and Ropali president Rex Aldous Alingog.

Situated in a 1.45-hectare area, the project will be a mid-rise condominium with 286 residential units in each building or 1,430 units in the 12-storey, five buildings to be erected. The buildings are expected to be completed within three years.

Uboan said Pueblo de Cauayan would help meet the 5,000 units targeted in the city alone this year.

“The department lauds the developers for being receptive to the socialized housing call of President (Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.). This is his flagship program and I am happy that here in Region 2, we are number 1,” she told the Philippine News Agency in an interview during the event.

Uboan said Cagayan Valley region was given a target to finish 30,000 housing units a year or 180,000 units by 2028.

In her speech during the event, Uboan said President Marcos has targeted 1 million housing units per year.

Alingog, in a separate interview, said they will also be erecting 4PH housing projects in Santa Ana, Cagayan and Tuguegarao City.

“Aside from these housing projects approved by the DHSUD, also in the pipeline is in Ilagan City whose officials also gave the go signal to us sans the papers to be done soon,” he said.

Dy said Pueblo de Cauayan will give “generous open spaces” similar to the local government’s 4PH project in Tagaran village wherein a swimming pool, basketball court, parks and playgrounds and a multi-purpose hall will also be built.

During the launching ceremony, the government and private firm officials unveiled the project’s scale model and planted the time capsule along with the contract, coin, title, blueprint and a newspaper.
