The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) has apprehended 122 persons for violating the curfew hours since it was implemented in the province on March 17.
“The curfew is being implemented from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.,” APPO Deputy Director for Operations Lt. Col. Norby Escobar said in an interview Wednesday.
People still outside of their residence once the curfew starts are asked to stay at the holding areas like gymnasiums if not in the police stations until the curfew ends in the morning, he added.
The curfew was first implemented during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and remained enforced when the province has shifted to the general community quarantine (GCQ) last May 16.
However, Executive Order Number 49 signed by Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao, said that Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) are already exempted from the curfew.
APORs include government health workers and private medical personnel, social workers, police, and other uniformed personnel of the government because of their essential services.
Those arrested were from Culasi with 24; Sebaste with 22; Sibalom, 18; San Jose de Buenavista, 17; Tibiao, 11; Laua-an, eight; Patnongon, six; Bugasong, five; Caluya, four; Pandan, three; Valderrama, two and one each from towns of Belison and Hamtic.
Escobar said 89 of the curfew violators were only given a warning; one was fined; seven undergone inquest proceedings and 25 are for regular filing of cases by the police. (PNA)
