Wonder Woman’s Golden New Costume – Wonder Woman 1984 News

Set to be released in 2020, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is the upcoming sequel to 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman’ with Israeli actress Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious franchise) reprising her role as the titular superhero lead. As of the late, Warner Bros. have not yet released any additional plot news regarding the upcoming movie nor have they given any other update for the rest of their upcoming DC films choosing to stay silent for now much to the impatience and disappointment of excited fans.

But fear not! ‘Wonder Woman’ & ‘1984’ director, Patty Jenkins, has recently tweeted out the official teaser poster for the sequel set in the ‘80s along with the caption: “By now you’ve heard: WB isn’t going to Hall H this year. We’re so sad to miss you there! And waiting until Dec. to start our official #WW84 campaign in full– But the truth is… we can just… barely… wait…”

The teaser poster shows a kaleidoscope of colors along with Diana/Wonder Woman smack in the center standing tall in all her glory and might. But what caught everybody’s attention the most was the change of costume. From the iconic red-blue-gold outfit that we saw her wear back in the first movie, we now have her all covered up in a fitted golden-scaled armor that seems to be reflecting the kaleidoscope of colors surrounding her. To some, this might just seem like a fresh and chic change that can symbolize the maturity, growth and adaptation into the ‘80s of our protagonist from the very first movie in which we saw her child-like curiosity upon finding herself surrounded by humans for the very first time during the year 1918. But to more comic-knowledgeable fans, this is so much more than a fashion change. Some have been pointing it out as the “Golden Eagle Armor” worn by Diana when facing her toughest of opponents thus possibly signifying just how difficult it will be for her to defeat the villain of 1984—Cheetah (played by Kristen Wiig). In the comics, the said armor also includes matching helmet and wings which are both seen to be absent in the poster.

Although, keep in mind that this is just a teaser and we can all still hold on to the hope of seeing Diana/Wonder Woman fly while some exhilarating rock or new wave ‘80s song plays in the background.

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is set to be released on June 5th, 2020 in the United States.
