Many scientists are still baffled on what the former Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan looks like after the nuclear disaster.
Robots sent for ground-checking were kept on dying. Even the most specialized robot made to exceed extreme radiation didn’t work.
Radiation effects differ on people and robot. Aside from the physical variation, it varies base on what type of radiation is leaking, alpha, beta, or gamma.
Radiation is also well-known to inhibit or destroy integrated circuit technology or electronics. It can brittle wires and damage circuits.
Though, there are some ways to lessen the effects of the radiation to the robots by changing its design or by building robots with fewer electronic parts.
But this kind of alteration or hefty protection is expensive and hard to develop.
