Mayor Cynthia-Guiani-Sayadi lifted the focused lockdown in Barangay Poblacion 6 here Thursday after the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) situation has improved.

After the 14-day lockdown, the village is now open and people will no longer be restricted.

“However, all residents are advised to strictly observe health protocols to prevent local transmission of the virus,” said Rolen Balquin, city quarantine officer.

Also reopened was the City Arcade, locally known as the “old market” site where a fish vendor tested positive for the virus and died in a hospital on September 7.

“All market vendors, market-goers, and anyone (who) come and go inside the marketplace must strictly observe health protocols. Penalties await those who disobey the city executive order,” Balquin said.

Sayadi, who was elated with the improving situation in the city as far as Covid-19 is concerned, has announced that the “no movement Saturday” has been lifted but the “no movement Sunday” stays until further notice.

“The city had recorded a substantial number of recoveries of confirmed cases lately,” she said, adding that she was grateful the city residents cooperated with the local government unit in limiting mobility. (PNA)
