After winning the title, ‘Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2021,’ Victoria Velasquez Vincent revealed that she was offered to represent New Zealand for the upcoming Miss Universe 2021 but she rejected.

In an Instagram post, Vincent said that she declined the offer because her heart will always be for the Philippines.

“After a week of contemplation, countless discussions with my family, friends and team, I eventually came to the decision to politely decline the offer,” Vincent said.

Vincent was born and raised in New Zealand. With the vision to help improve the Philippines through architecture and heritage conservation, she brought her advocacy to the MUP pageant and represented her mother’s hometown, Cavite.

“So many people will say I’m crazy for turning down this opportunity, but I had to choose what I know in my heart was the right thing to do,” Vincent said. “My heart is, and always will be here to serve the Philippines. Some may say I’m not Filipina enough, and that’s ok. I know who I am. I know what I stand for. I am a Filipina,” the beauty queen added.

Vincent, however, thanked the Miss Universe New Zealand organization for believing in her and offered her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Moreover, she also expressed her gratitude towards Miss Universe Philippines for their support regardless of the decision she will make.

“I am so excited to see what the future holds for us, Philippines,” Vincent concluded.

Vincent was named Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2021 together with Taguig’s Katrina Dimaranan who was hailed as Miss Universe Philippines Tourism and Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez won the crown as Miss Universe Philippines 2021.
