The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 999 more coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections, raising the overall tally to 38,511.

The DOH said of the additional cases, 404 are “late” cases or those whose results were released at least four days ago, while 595 are “fresh” cases or results released to the patient within the past three days.

Of the fresh cases, 175 are from the National Capital Region (NCR), 134 from Central Visayas, and 286 from other regions.

On the other hand, 131 of the late cases are from the NCR, 57 from Central Visayas, and 216 from other regions.

The DOH also reported 205 new recoveries and only four new deaths.

“Of the four reported deaths, three or 75 percent occurred in June. Two duplicates were also removed from the total case count. The total cases reported may subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation,” it said.

To date, the total recoveries nationwide are 10,438, while the death toll now at 1,270.

In its case bulletin, the DOH noted there are 26,015 active cases and 1,210 or 4.7 percent of them are asymptomatic; 24,638 or 95.7 percent have mild symptoms; 140 or 0.5 percent have severe symptoms, and 27 or 0.1 percent are in critical condition.

In a Covid-19 virtual presser, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said there are indications that most of the new cases in May and June are repatriates compared to March and April who are healthcare workers according to the initial analysis made.

“As of June 30, we have 92,967 returning overseas Filipinos who arrived and land-based are 39,643, and sea-based 53,324. About 2,326 are confirmed Covid-19 cases, land-based is 1,213 and sea-based is 1,113,” Vergeire said.

As of Tuesday, the DOH has 13,499 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

Occupied are about 44.06 percent of 3,107 ward beds; 38.56 percent of 9,071 isolation beds; and 37.17 percent of 1,321 intensive care unit beds.

There are 1,975 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients with about 24.30 percent in use.

In facilities of Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) across the country, some 56,210 beds are dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Meanwhile, some 3,193 beds are dedicated to Covid-19 patients in Mega Ligtas Covid facilities. (PNA)
