Uber has announced that it will shut down its app’s operation here in the Philippines starting today, April 16 via e-mail advisory. Uber also asked their customers to download and register to Grab for their future trips.
Their shut down is the result of the acquisition of Uber’s Southeast Asian operations to Grab. They are originally going to shut down on April 8, but the Philippine Competition Commission asked them to extend until April 15 for the review of the transfer to Grab.
Netizens are showing appreciation on Facebook for Uber’s performance throughout their use. Here are some of their online post for Uber.
The app may be gone but the legacy will remain. Thank you to all the riders and drivers who trusted us to help move the Philippines forward. It's official, Uber Philippines signing off! #Onwards
