Showcasing the importance of using renewable energy in the environment, the Energy Development Corporation held its first ever video contest dubbed “Sa Geothermal May Forever”. Joined by aspiring Negrense film makers from different schools, who showcased their skills in film making incorporating Geothermal Energy’s importance as the most sustainable source of energy.
The five finalists gathered last October 20 at the Luce Auditorium, Silliman University, Dumaguete City
Geo TV, a documentary-type video that tackles the benefits of geothermal energy; Pero Nag-effort, a story about a geo engineering student who went her class only the find out that class is suspended; Power, a story about a girl who found love that is forever; Thesis Pa More, a college student who got left by her boyfriend during his thesis; and Travel Goals, a story about a student who found her forever on one of her journey.
‘Travel Goals’ emerged as the winner followed by ‘Power’ and ‘Thesis Pa More’.
“The biggest challenge for us was the time line, we only had two days to shoot the whole film’, said by Christine Joy Conception, the leading actress of ‘Travel Goals’. “We wanted to show in our film that we millennials, should not always focus on being tech savvies but also appreciate the wonders of environment and nature,” she added.
When asked why is there ‘Forever’ in Geothermal Energy she responded “parang love lang ‘yan, ‘di nawawala nandiyan lang palagi.”
When asked what will they do with the prize money “we will divide it among our group and donate some of it for our school because that’s our priority.”

The event was graced by former PBB housemate and an award-winning host Robi Domingo who is also a pro-nature advocate.
