Headphones are the new addition to the growing line-up of exploding gadgets.

Unnamed woman suffers burns on her face and hand after the alleged explosion of her battery-powered headphones while inside an airplane.

In the reports, the woman was sleeping during her trip from Beijing to Melbourne but suddenly woke up by a brash explosion sound.

The explosion sound followed by burning sensation on her face and around neck.

She threw the headphones on the floor and it started to melt.

Authorities refused to disclosed the brand of exploding headphones. However, Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) assessed that the battery in the device triggered the fire.

Headphones use lithium-ion batteries, the most common element for modern electronics. If you remember, faulty battery is also the main reason why Samsung Galaxy 7 phones exploded.
