Roses of various colors are still the top token or gift for Valentine’s Day in this province.
On Tuesday, the eve of Valentine’s Day, red, yellow, white, pink and yellow roses flooded public markets and flower stalls in the towns of Bambang, Aritao, Bayombong, Solano, Bagabag, Diadi and Villaverde, among others.
Here in Aritao, a single stem of rose is being sold at PHP75.00.
“This is our price but it goes higher in other municipalities, especially when these are peddled in government and private offices,” said Jenelyn Ibajo, 28, a flower seller in Bambang town.
She said they expect to sell more flowers and make more profit until tomorrow, Valentine’s Day, although she noted that many people had started buying flowers last weekend.
Most of the supply of roses in Nueva Vizcaya come from Aritao and Kayapa town, which is considered as the flower capital of the province.
They come in large bundles, carefully wrapped and directly delivered to public markets, stall owners and private individuals. (PNA)
