The Department of Health on Monday reported 87 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total recovered patients to 273,123.

In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also reported 2,291 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total active cases to 45,799.

Of the active cases, 85.6 percent are mild, 9.2 percent are asymptomatic, 1.6 percent are severe, and 3.6 percent are in critical condition.

The majority of the newly confirmed cases were from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 825, the provinces of Batangas with 140, Laguna with 128, Rizal with 114, and Cavite with 102 infections.

Meanwhile, the overall tally of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 324,762 since the health crisis broke out, with the death toll higher by 64 at 5,840.

Of the 64 deaths, seven occurred in October (11 percent), 34 in September (53 percent), eight in August (12 percent), 14 in July (22 percent), and one in May (2 percent).

“About 26 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 18 were recovered cases. Moreover, 25 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.

It added that the national case fatality rate is now at 1.80 percent; the positivity rate, 10.17 percent; case doubling time, 11.69 days; and mortality doubling time, 16.62 days.

As of Sunday, the 107 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 33 licensed GeneXpert laboratories conducted a total of 3,675,938 tests nationwide.

The DOH said it has 23,100 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Occupied are about 46 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 41 percent of 15,300 isolation beds; and 43 percent of 6,200 ward beds.

About 22 percent of 2,200 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
