At least 82 more patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease, pushing the country’s overall tally of recovered cases to 429,207 on Monday.

In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the figures represent 93 percent of those who tested positive for the virus that has so far beaten the illness.

The agency also reported 1,721 new confirmed cases and 10 new deaths.

These figures brought the overall tally of active cases to 23,341 and the death toll to 8,957.

The DOH said about 82.2 percent of the active cases are mild, 8.5 percent are asymptomatic, 3 percent are severe, 0.34 percent are moderate, and 5.9 percent are in critical condition.

“There were five duplicates removed from the total case count as these were recovered cases. Moreover, four cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.

Davao City topped the list of places that logged the most number of new cases with 151 infections.

It was followed by Quezon City with 142; Rizal with 85; Laguna with 81; and the City of Manila with 77.

DOH data on Dec. 19 showed that 1,163 or 5.5 percent of 21,281 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

Currently, there is a 21,300-bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

Available are 60 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 65 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 76 percent of 5,900 ward beds.

About 79 percent of 2,000 ventilators are available for Covid-19 patients’ use.

The agency advised the public to serve healthy dishes for the senior citizens this holiday season to boost their immune system against Covid-19.

It also reminded the public to continue observing the minimum health standards, especially when going outdoors – the proper wearing of face masks and face shields, avoiding cramped places where physical distancing is impossible, and avoiding staying outside for a long period. (PNA)
