Some 771 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were reported Thursday, pushing the total number of recoveries nationwide to 254,223.

In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also noted 2,415 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 54,294.

Of the active cases, 86.6 percent are mild, 9 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, and 3.1 percent are in critical condition.

The majority of the newly announced cases were from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 930, the provinces of Cavite with 238, Rizal with 128, Laguna with 123, and Negros Occidental with 103 infections.

Meanwhile, the overall tally of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 314,079 since the health crisis broke out, with the death toll higher by 59 at 5,562.

Of the 59 deaths, 37 (or 63 percent) occurred in September, 10 (or 17 percent) in August, nine (15 percent) in July, one (2 percent) in June, and two (3 percent) in April.

“About 30 duplicates were removed from the total case count, 19 of these are recovered cases and one death. Moreover, 17 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified to deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.

As of Tuesday, the 105 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 33 licensed GeneXpert laboratories have conducted a total of 3,524,282 tests nationwide.

The DOH said it has 23,100 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Occupied are about 46 percent of 2,000 intensive care unit beds; 40 percent of 15,100 isolation beds; and 43 percent of 6,000 ward beds.

About 25 percent of 2,200 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
