As part of preventive measures to curb the transmission of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) within communities, the Pasig City government has issued an executive order imposing a market coding scheme for its villages.

The local government on Tuesday started implementing the new barangay scheduling for the city’s market coding scheme under Executive Order no. 43, s. 2020.

Under the local order, the local government will regulate the limited movement of people going to the Pasig Mega Market wherein market-goers of selected barangays are allowed to transact inside the public wet market only during their scheduled days.

Mayor Vico Sotto reminded residents that the market coding scheme will be effective August 25.

He added that only 15 barangays are allowed to enter the public mega-market, at a maximum of three times per week.

The coding scheme is aimed at preventing the high volume of people entering the wet market’s premises and maintaining the minimum health protocols, particularly on physical distancing.

Residents of barangays Pinagbuhatan, Kalawaan, Caniogan, San Antonio, Bambang, Pineda, Bagong Ilog, San Joaquin, Kapitolyo, Buting, Sagad, Sta. Cruz, Kapasigan, Oranbo, and San Miguel are allowed to go to the public mega-market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Meanwhile, residents of barangays Manggahan, Rosario, Santolan, Sta. Lucia, Maybunga, San Nicolas, Ugong, Dela Paz, Palatiw, Sto. Tomas, Malinao, Sumilang, San Jose, Bagong Katipunan, and Sta. Rosa are allowed at the market on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

All residents will be required to present proof of residence including barangay certificates, identification cards, or quarantine pass before they can enter the mega-market.

Retailers and wholesalers from Pasig’s neighboring cities and municipalities are allowed to transact inside the mega-market from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. only.

The market will open for the market-goers from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. only.

It will be closed every Monday for disinfection protocols, beginning August 31.

“There is an urgent need to implement a coding scheme in the market for the purposes of limiting the residents from different barangays inside its vicinity and to properly comply with the policy of social distancing and prevent the proliferation of Covid-19 within the jurisdiction of the City of Pasig,” the executive order stated.

The city government will strictly enforce the temperature checking, wearing of face masks, and physical distancing within the mega-market premises. (PNA)
