OMRON Healthcare, a leading manufacturer of health equipment for home and medical uses, unveils the HV-F013, a new Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device ideal for relieving muscle pain.

More than half of people the world over experience body pain on a weekly basis, with the pain incidence in the Philippines and Australia higher at 61 percent of respondents, according to the 2017 GSK Global Pain Index. Among these sufferers, 47 percent do not talk about their pain and choose to ignore it until it goes away.

Back pain is the most common occupational disease at work, said the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in its latest report . It accounts for about one-third (32.8%) of total cases, followed by essential hypertension (11.5%) and neck-shoulder pain (11.4%). Although not included in the PSA study, stay-at-home parents who do physical work are also likely to experience back pain due to hectic household chores.

The Philippine Rheumatology Association recently warned Filipinos against chronic back pain, which, if left untreated, may lead to Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) or “back attack” . If detected early, electrotherapy through TENS products may help prevent back pain from developing into a serious health condition.

An electrotherapy device you can bring anywhere
Designed to enable muscle pain relief and management anywhere and anytime, the OMRON HV-F013 is pocket-sized and weighs approximately 75g, making it convenient to travel with or carry around. Its simple interface allows ease of use at home or in the office.

The OMRON HV-F013 has five modes that target the arm/shoulder, lower back and leg/foot areas. It comes with soft, comfortable, self-adhesive pads, which users apply to the area of pain. These pads are connected to a remote that controls the modes and levels of intensity.

Those who sit for long hours or face multiple tasks such as desk-bound office employees and stay-at-home parents and experience back pain may choose from three treatment zones and two special massage modes — steady and knead — and up to 10 levels of intensity to fit their preference.

How HV-F013 works
The body generates quite low electricity or “bioelectricity,” which causes the muscles to contract and relax. TENS therapy uses low-frequency treatment to alleviate stiffness and pain caused by the malfunction of bioelectricity in the body.

The HV-FO13 can produce low- to high-rate tapping, pulsing, kneading and massage-like sensations depending on the settings selected by the user. When low-frequency electric current is applied to the area of pain, it blocks pain signals from being sent to the brain just like in neurotransmission systems. This effectively prevents the pain from being felt.

The different therapies can relieve stiffness, sore or achy muscles, muscle spasms and nerve pain.

Pricing and availability
The HV-F013 is the newest addition to OMRON Healthcare’s line of TENS products. The HV-F013 is proven to help in alleviating the hardworking Filipinos’ plight on muscle pain.

The HV-F013 may be purchased via the O-shopping network starting the second week of March at a special introductory price of PHP 2,495. Every purchase also comes with free TENS pads worth PHP 850. The purchase promo is happening until June 30, 2020. (Per DOH-FDA Promo Permit No. CDHHR-0014)

OMRON Healthcare’s other electrotherapy devices include the HV-F021, HV-F127 and HV-F128. These are available in appliance stores and on OMRON’s official stores Lazada and Shopee. For more information on OMRON Healthcare and its products, visit
