Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers now have easier access to booster shots as the city government of Manila opened a drive-thru vaccination exclusively for their use at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila.

PUV drivers can also bring along their family members eligible for booster shots from 8 a.m. 5 p.m. everyday, with 1,000 to be accommodated daily.

All vaccine brands will be available.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan launched the new jabs site along Mabini St, just beside the Manila Zoo.

“Ito ‘yung para sa mga jeepney driver, pedicab driver, sidecar boys, tricycle, taxi driver, delivery van, so merong space para sa kanila kasi hanggat maaari, iniiwasan kong mabalam yung hanapbuhay nila (This is for jeepney drivers, pedicab drivers, sidecar boys, tricycle drivers, taxi drivers, delivery vans. This is the space for them so as not to disrupt their livelihood),” Domagoso said in an interview.

The city government administers first and second doses of the Covid-19 jabs in 44 health centers, three malls, and six community sites located in schools.

The city government also extended its drive-thru booster vaccination site for motorcycle and bicycle riders at the Kartilya ng Katipunan monument near the city hall while vaccination for passengers of four-wheel vehicles is being held 24/7 at the Quirino Grandstand.

The QR (quick response) code obtained from the manilacovid19vaccine.ph registration and a valid identification (ID) document are required in all sites.

Minors aged 12 to 17 years old may come with only one companion who is an immediate relative and with a valid ID proving their relationship.

The child must have either a birth or baptismal certificate along with an ID while those with comorbidities should bring a medical certificate.

As of Sunday, the city government has already fully vaccinated 1,654,475 while 262,079 have gotten booster shots. (PNA)
