Award-winning actress, Lorna Tolentino, graced the premiere of the digitally restored and remastered version of her film “Sa Init Ng Apoy,” which was the project that made her closer to her late husband Rudy Fernandez, last Tuesday (September 18) at the newly opened Santolan Town Plaza.
The premiere marked the beginning of the latest leg of ABS-CBN Film Restoration’s REELive the Classics, a week-long festival of digitally restored and remastered films.
Lorna played Laura, a young woman troubled by terrible dreams of her death during Holy Week. To encourage her to relax and take her mind off of her dreams, her loving husband, Emil, played by Lorna’s real-life husband, the late Rudy Fernandez, takes her on vacation to Baguio. However, their holiday turns into a nightmare when strange things start to happen in the house where they were staying.
The Grand Slam Queen, who is currently seen on ABS-CBN’s “Asintado,” graced the event with her son Rap. She said of the film’s restoration, “Thank you, ABS-CBN Restoration sa pagbuhay muli ng pelikulang ‘Sa Init Ng Apoy.’ Thank you for restoring good films. Matakot po tayo ngayong gabi.”
Also at the screening was Director Romy Suzara, who recounted how the prominent kissing scene of the movie brought Lorna and Rudy closer, “After nung kanta nung ‘Sa Init Ng Apoy,’ may kissing scene yun eh. Hinabaan ko talaga. Ang ending hindi na sila naghiwalay.”
‘Sa Init ng Apoy’ is considered one of the Philippine movie industry’s best films in the horror genre.
