South Korean flag carrier Korean Air (KE) has warned customers against phishing scams using fake e-tickets.
Seungwon Chung, KE Global Communications deputy general manager, confirmed with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday that the carrier has received few complaints regarding this recently.
These complaints were all from South Korea, she added.
As such, KE announced that customers should check the sender’s email address, noting that an unidentified email should be deleted without browsing or opening its content.
The email should be from firstname.lastname@example.org, it added.
Phishing is an attempt to get one’s sensitive information (e.g. passwords, credit card details) through electronic communication like email. Cybercriminals use this to distribute malicious links that could extract login information and other account information.
This fraudulent attempt often directs users, to enter personal information on a fake website that looks like the legitimate site. (PNA)
