Breaking away from its usual routes in the villages, the Department of Agriculture in Davao Region (DA-11) has brought its “Kadiwa on Wheels” market to mall shoppers here.

In a statement Tuesday, DA-11 said it entered into an agreement with the Ayala-run Abreeza Mall to launch the mobile market in its premises from August 28 to September 20.

Some 16 farmers associations are participating in the event to showcase their products every Friday to Sunday at the mall’s activity center.

Janet Dobli, chief of DA11-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), said the “scaling up of Kadiwa from the barangays to malls will provide more venues both for the farmers and the consumers.”

“We help lead the farmers and their products to go directly to the consumers,” she added.

DA-11 has previously partnered up with SM Lanang Premier for the ‘Farmers’ Produce’, a weekend market where farmers can display their products at the North Wing area of the mall. The weekend market runs from August 23 to September 20, 2020.

“As a farmer, through Kadiwa of DA-11 and DIADC, we are able to bring the produce from our farms directly to the consumers,” said Benjamin Musa, a farmer-member Durian Industry Association of Davao City (DIADC). (PNA)
