On February 9, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Jose Arturo Garcia as officer-in-charge general manager of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority or MMDA. The news was released and announced to the media yesterday, February 12.
Garcia was the previous MMDA Assistant General Manager for planning. He was in-charge in implementing policies such as yellow lanes and the proposed high-occupancy vehicle lane.
Garcia replaced Thomas Orbos. Following the resignation of Emerson Carlos on August 2016, Orbos served as the MMDA’s acting chairman. New appointment papers were signed by the President, and he is now assigned as undersecretary of Department of Transportation (DOTr)
