Jed Madela On His Fears, His Music, And His Upcoming Concert

Jed Madela sat down with Boy Abunda to discuss his upcoming concert, “Jed Madela XV Higher Than High: The 15th Anniversary Concert” happening on November 16 in the Araneta Coliseum. The show began with a quote from Kate Winslet: “Fear is a good thing. Running away from it is not.” Abunda asked Madela about his fears and Madela responded by saying he believed in conquering them, like when he recently went zip lining in Bukidnon. Madela also shared that he was not afraid of getting old, but only of losing people eventually, since he believes life is all about building relationships.

As far as in performing, Madela shared that while he is often afraid making mistakes in his live performances, he tries to laugh it off instead of feeling ashamed. “I prepare myself for the worst,” he said.

Madela expressed that he is both excited and nervous for his upcoming concert. He told Abunda that all the guests were people who had been a big part of his life. Some of the guests include Nyoy Volante, The TNT Boys, Regine Velazquez, and even Vice Ganda. Madela revealed that he had a funny side and that the he would show more of it in his segment with Vice.

He ended the show by singing two of his new songs, “Di Matitinag” and “Superhero” to the delight of both Abunda and the audience. He called “Di Matitinag” the “song of the struggling artist” and consequently, “the song of [his] life.”
