Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, on Sunday commended police personnel in the Ilocos Region for their concern for the environment and efforts to help keep their communities clean.

Police trainees from the Public Safety Field Training Program Class 2020-03, assigned at Agoo Municipal Police Station in La Union, conducted a cleanup drive at the coastal area of Barangay Sta. Rita Central.

“The police trainees conducted the drive to promote cleanliness and environment protection,” Eleazar said in a statement.

Meanwhile, elements of the Badoc Municipal Police Station and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office, together with members of advocacy groups, also held a cleanup drive at the border control in Barangay Sta. Cruz.

This was done to show their support for frontline workers amid the observance of the 26th Police Community Relations celebration on July 5.

Eleazar lauded the police officers for initiating these cleanup projects in the communities.

“Nakatutuwa na pinapalawig pa ng ating kapulisan ang kalinisan, hindi lamang sa kanilang mga presinto, kung hindi pati na din sa ibang bahagi ng komunidad. Tunay na mas mainam tumira sa lugar na malinis at maayos sa tulong ng bawat isa (Interestingly, our police are further extending cleanliness, not only in their precincts but also in other parts of the community. It is definitely better to live in a place that is clean and orderly with the help of each other),” Eleazar stressed. (PNA)
