“Gusto lang namin magbanyo,” Ice Seguerra lamented on his Instagram. The singer shared his take on the recent incident involving the arrest of transgender woman Gretchen Diez, who was barred from using the women’s restroom at a mall in Quezon City.
Seguerra is no stranger to the discomfort experienced by many transgender people when out in public spaces.
(I’ve been asked to leave the women’s restroom several times. If I go to the men’s restroom, I get asked so many questions, especially if there are Filipinos.)
The 35 year-old added that he used to be afraid of going to the bathroom during ASEAN events so he would rather avoid drinking water the whole day to be safe. Seguerra previously served as Chairperson of the National Youth Commission. He left the post in 2018 due to personal reasons.

Honestly, this is one of my biggest fears whenever I'm out. This is a real concern. Parang kinakain ako ng lupa sa tuwing nangyayari yun and what's worse is I don't feel safe. All of these feelings and more, AND NOW THIS… just because gusto lang namin magbanyo.
As the public remains divided on the Diez incident, Seguerra wants them to realize that this is a real concern. Parang kinain ako ng lupa sa tuwing nangyayari yun and what’s worse is I don’t feel safe,” he admitted.
(Until you’ve experienced it, you won’t mind it. Others may think its a shallow concern but it isn’t. It isn’t shallow when people stare at you or worse, make you leave. I feel like the ground is swallowing me up when that happens.)
