Antique Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao assured that Antique is still a peaceful province.
Cadiao, in an interview on Monday, said that Antiquenos have nothing to worry about when as far as peace and order is concerned.
The governor made the statement after a police station in Maasin town in Iloilo province was raided by armed members of the New People’s Army on Sunday morning.
She further said that on Monday afternoon, the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) headed by Governor Samuel Gumarin of Guimaras will be holding a meeting due to the reported raid.
Cadiao, the new chairperson of the Regional Development Council for Western Visayas, also stressed the deployment of 400 soldiers of the 82nd Infantry Battalion to Marawi City has not “softened” the security in Panay island because another battalion, the 62nd has immediately taken over.
Cadiao led the sent off ceremony over the weekend.
She also cautioned the public to just remain vigilant and have a closer coordination with the police and army and report immediately anything unusual be it concerning the NPA or the Maute group. (AJP/PNA)
