President Rodrigo Duterte has finally approved the closure of Boracay for six months on Wednesday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.
“Bora closed for six month effective 26 April,” Roque said according to news.
The recommendation to close Boracay from tourists for 6 months came from the Department of the Interior and Local Government. The Department of Tourism and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources had also called for a “total” closure, according to Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
Duterte made the approval during the 24th Cabinet meeting in Malacañang on Wednesday.
