Filipino Photographers Team Up To Raise Funds For Victims Of Batanes Earthquakes

On the morning of July 27, two earthquakes rocked the islands of Batanes, mere hours apart from each other. The incident affected over 2,000 people on the island of Itbayat–which was just 12 kilometers away from the epicenter of the first earthquake (Magnitude 5.4) and 21 kilometers away from the epicenter of the second (Magnitude 5.9). Reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council say nine have been found dead, 63 were injured, and structural damages may reach up to PHP47 million in total.

While the government has already mobilized aid, a group of Filipino photographers is going the extra mile to do their part in helping the victims recover from the calamity. Through Bayanihan para sa Batanes, they are working to raise funds by selling prints of Batanes, alongside other original shots. The participating photographers include the likes of Jilson Tiu, Paul Quiambao, Arwin Palac, Rolan Garcia, Dino Dimar, Joe Malicdem, Bien Alvarez, and RA Valderrama to name a few.

Prices of the prints begin at PHP8,000, with all proceeds set to go to the affected families in Itbayat (excluding the printing cost).
