The City Veterinary Office here is targeting up to 500 cats and dogs for its free anti-rabies vaccination as part of activities to mark World Rabies Day.

City Veterinarian Dr. Lourdes Socorro, in a phone interview Thursday afternoon, said the free vaccination started on Sept. 28, which is World Rabies Day and is extended to October 2.

Aside from anti-rabies vaccination, she said other services offered are deworming and giving of vitamins.

Socorro thanked the sponsors, including the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association and Pilmico Foods Corporation, which produces dog food and animal feeds, among other products.

She said the free anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, and giving of vitamins is done daily until Saturday at the City Veterinary Office at Building 2 of the Public Market Complex during office hours.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “End Rabies: Cooperate, Vaccinate”, Socorro said.

Meanwhile, the City Veterinary Office has neutered a total of 338 dogs and cats for the month of September for free.

These services ended on Wednesday, Socorro said. (PNA)
