The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Aklan has urged farmers to seek adequate knowledge on cacao technology to further boost local production.

Aklanon farmers are invited to a cacao technology forum scheduled on April 24 at Aklan Trade Hall in Kalibo town.

“The province has a big potential in cacao production because of its good soil condition,” said Pinky Regalado, senior specialist of DTI-Aklan.

Regalado said the forum aims to raise the interests of Aklanon farmers on cacao production as well as to showcase technologies to help improve their farming practices.

“We encourage our farmers to venture on cacao production which has a big market potential to help them boost their income,” said Regalado.

The towns of Ibajay and Libacao are biggest producers of production of cacao in Aklan.

The forum is part of the Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival slated on April 21 to 26.(PNA) KVB
