The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said there is adequate supply of Noche Buena products in supermarkets and grocery stores in this province.

Glen Fernando, DTI-Antique Trade and Industry specialist, said in an interview Monday that based on their monitoring, there are sufficient commodities available such as ham, spaghetti noodles and others that are usually being prepared during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“There is no restriction on the transport of goods to the province that is why there is sufficient supply of Noche Buena products among the supermarkets and stores,” he said.

Fernando said supermarkets, particularly the Robinson’s Mall in this capital town have moved their closing schedule from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to give shoppers more time.

“We have already posted tarpaulin also in the major supermarkets and stores on the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for the Noche Buena products so that the consumers could validate,” he said.

Fernando advised consumers to check the prices of the goods they are buying to determine whether these are in accordance with the SRP.

“So far, in Antique, the supermarkets and stores are also compliant with the SRP,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fernando reminded shoppers to strictly observe the health protocols against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) such as physical distancing and wearing of face masks and face shields.

“We also remind the supermarkets and stores to strictly implement the health protocol,” he said.

The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Antique said the latest available data on Sunday, Dec. 20 showed six Covid-19 active cases, which are local transmissions. (PNA)
