The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aims to fully pave the 10.69 kilometers Piña-Suclaran road in the island province of Guimaras.
Guimaras district engineer Rolando P. Ubaldo said that construction of the project started in 2014 but around 6.883 kilometers remained unpaved until this year.
Ubaldo said that they were currently fast-tracking the concreting of the unpaved section of the road to complete the project before the year ends.
The said provincial road project was being carried out by DPWH but was fully funded by the Department of Tourism (DOT) under the convergence project.
DOT specifically allotted PHP147.3 million for the project.
The road is leading to the well-known tourist attractions, the wind farm in the town of San Lorenzo and other tourism sites in the province.
Once completed, Ubaldo said that the project would “promote the agri-tourism industry and boost the economy of the province of Guimaras”.
He added that it would also provide convenience to the farmers in bringing their products to the market. (CBF/PNA)
