No new fatalities and 49 new recoveries from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) were reported among Filipinos abroad, maintaining the death toll to 763 and raising those who survived to 6,382.

Of the new recoveries, nine were logged in the Asia Pacific, 32 in Europe, and eight in the Middle East/Africa.

About 15 new confirmed cases were also recorded in the Americas and the Middle East/Africa region, jacking up the total to 10,151.

Based on the latest figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), 3,006 are undergoing treatment, mostly from the Middle East/Africa with 2,339, followed by the Asia Pacific with 298, Europe with 204, and the Americas with 165.

According to DFA, the total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 74.

Aside from monitoring cases abroad, the DFA is also steadfast in repatriating distressed Filipino overseas, particularly those displaced due to the pandemic.

As of September 5, the DFA brought home a total of 164,368 overseas Filipinos, 59,853 are seafarers while the remaining are land-based workers. (PNA)
