Electric power distribution firm Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP), has announced lower rates for this month’s billing as generation rate decreases.
The adjustment, from July’s PHP5.8930 per kilowatt hour (kWh) to this month’s PHP5.0668 per kWh, would mean that a typical household consuming about 100 kWh per month would be deducted PHP82.62.
In an interview Thursday, DECORP legal officer and spokesperson Randy Castilan attributed the adjustment to lower charges of the independent power producers (IPPs) and power supply agreements (PSAs).
Castilan said concessionaires of DECORP would enjoy another PHP0.0971 per kWh decrease in October because of the Republic Act (RA) 1317, also known as the Murang Kuryente Act, recently signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
He added that the deduction reflects the PHP0.0428 for National Power Corporation (NPC) stranded debts, and PHP0.0543 NPC contract costs, which have been strapped as burdens to all concessionaires until RA 1317 was signed.
“Yung mga costs na iyon ay tatanggalin na. Sa halip yung kinikita sa Malampaya ang magco-cover doon sa NPC debt na iyon (These costs would be removed. The income from Malampaya power plant would cover the NPC debt),” Castilan said. (PNA)
