Dabawenyos To Feast On Araw Ng Dabaw

The Davao City government will give 10,000 food packs to the Dabawenyos during the culmination day of the 81st Araw ng Davao Friday, March 16.

City Human Resource Management Office head Erwin Alparaque, who leads the Parada Dabawenyo Committee, bared on Thursday’s I-Speak Media Forum that Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has invited the city residents to go out to celebrate the founding anniversary of Davao.

Alparaque said the food packs are open to all people and will be distributed after the Parada Dabwenyo, a civic–military parade as one of the culminating activities of Araw ng Dabaw.

“Maski dili siya taga Davao basta naa siya sa Parada Dabawenyo nagtan-aw ba o nag-apil, mo pila siya didto sa atong distribusyon (Even people who are not from Davao City, whether spectators or participants, they can participate (in the food feast) as long as they will fall in line in the distribution areas),” Alparaque said.

He said the distribution would be on C.M Recto Street from the Royal House going to the corner of Bonifacio Street.

Lawyer Raul Nadela Jr., the mayor’s chief of staff, said the distribution of the food packs is a show of appreciation to those who would go outside and join the city’s celebration.

“The city government is very thankful to those who will really come and join us in our celebration. The Araw ng Davao is really for them,” Nadela said.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will also deploy security personnel on the distribution areas to assure the safety of the people.

DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan said personnel from Mobile Patrol Group and Task Force Davao would be deployed in the area.

The food pack distribution is backed by Pilipinong may Puso Foundation and Petron Foundation that were already the partners of the city government during previous activities. (Armando Fenequito Jr/PNA)
