The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported another death due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 12.

In a statement released at 10:30 pm, the DOH said patient 12, a 56-year-old Filipino male, died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome, secondary to Covid-19 and had pre-existing asthma.

Earlier in the day, the DOH reported the death of patient 9, an 86-year-old American man from Marikina City; patient 54, a 40-year-old Filipino from Pasig City; and patient 11, a 64-year-old man from Negros Oriental.

The DOH clarified that “to date,” there have been a total of two recovered cases of Covid-19 — patients 1 and 3.

Moreover, five confirmed Covid-19 cases with mild symptoms are under home quarantine based on the existing decision tool for the diagnosis and management of Covid-19.

The community quarantine which was implemented in Metro Manila to prevent further spread of Covid-19 took effect on Sunday and will last until April 14.
