CBS has unveiled a ‘first look’ teaser for the much-awaited Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon.
It was revealed that the prequel will follow the story of 9-year old Sheldon Cooper who, at a very young age, struggled to fit in due to his high IQ. As the misfit genius, he struggles to cope with skipping a few grades and being bumped straight into high school.
Young Sheldon will bring mixed-emotions as the main character reminisces his childhood. Moreover, the story will take on some of the stories about his childhood that he’s told over the years on the original show.
Big Little Lies child actor Iain Armitage will play the young scientist in the spin off. Meanwhile, Jim Parsons, who portrayed Sheldon in the sitcom for almost a decade, will be the executive producer for the show.
Unlike the gag-heavy series, the prequel hints at a more sentimental tone as per the trailer.
The Big Bang Theory is an on-going TV sitcom of CBS. It talks about the story of two geniuses Leonard and Sheldon, who are brilliant physicists and very clever in the laboratory but socially challenged everywhere else. Enter beautiful, street-smart neighbor Penny, who aims to teach them a thing or two about life, Sheldon’s female companion, neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler, and their ever-expanding universe of friends, including fellow scientists Koothrappali, Wolowitz and Wolowitz’s adorable microbiologist wife, Bernadette.
Young Sheldon is due to premiere in the US this fall according to stuff.co.nz.
