The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) – Isabela called on all taxpayers to pay their income taxes today as the BIR will impose surcharges and penalties beginning tomorrow.

BIR–Isabela Officer-In-Charge Miguel Morada said the agency has set April 17, 2017 as the deadline for paying income and corporate taxes and paying taxes after this will include surcharges and penalties.

Morada said the BIR has been reminding taxpayers to pay before the set deadline to avoid long queus in BIR offices.

He said taxpayers are also advised to file in the online electronic filing system facility of BIR.

He said the electronic filing system facility was introduced to help taxpayers pay online and avoid going to the BIR offices for their convenience.

The OIC BIR–Isabela head said taxpayers must log in at the BIR website and enroll or register to the electronic filing system online.

“Penalties and surcharges will immediately be charged in the succeeding days to taxpayers who have not paid their income and corporate taxes due after the April 17, 2017 deadline,” Morada said.

Originally, the BIR has set April 15, 2017 as the deadline of filing but because the date fell on Holy Friday, it was moved to April 17, 2017. (PNA) MGE
