Boat trips to and from Boracay have been cancelled until further notice by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Caticlan due to Tropical Depression “Basyang”.
The PCG has disallowed sea travel to and from Boracay Island after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Boat operation is scheduled to resume at 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
With the cancellations, hundreds of tourists bound for Boracay are expected to be stranded at both Caticlan and Cagban jetty ports.
The PCG has also cancelled trips of Ro-Ro (roll on-roll off) vessels from Caticlan bound to Mindoro, Batangas, and Romblon from Monday evening.
Aside from boat trips, island hopping and other water activities on the island were also cancelled.
The PCG-Caticlan said the regular boat and Ro-Ro operation will be restored once the typhoon signal in Aklan is lifted.
Aklan is still under signal no. 1 as of Tuesday evening, based on the recent advisory by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. (PNA)
