The Department of Trade and Industry Antique provincial office is meeting store owners here in Antique for the “Balik Eskwela Diskwento Promo” that will be on May 29-31.
Glen Fernando, Trade and Industry Development Specialist of the DTI Antique, said in an interview that the three-day Balik Eskwela Diskwento Promo would be held to benefit parents and students with discounts on their needed school supplies, uniforms and other items before the school opening on June 5.
Fernando said that usually stores during this event offer 10-15 percent discounts to consumers.
He said that last year’s “Balik Eskwela Diskwento Promo” held from May 27-31 recorded 5,526 buyers and 13 participating local retailers. The gross sales then amounted to PHP1.08 million.
”We hope that this year there would be more stores that would participate,”Fernando said. He added that services like haircut for students would be also discounted, but that the stores themselves would come up with their own mechanics.
Although most stores that would be joining are those from the capital town San Jose de Buenavista but those that have outlets in other towns like Gian’s in Sibalom and BEY in Culasi are also encouraged to offer discounts.
The stores will hang tarpaulin as a form of public information while the DTI will have mobile public announcements during the duration and conduct daily sales monitoring. (AJP/PNA)
