Philippine Army (PA) commander, Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay on Wednesday formally received 39 newly-promoted Army generals in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

He told the newly promoted general officers that their promotions are a testament to the hard work, self-sacrifice, and dedication to duty that has brought them this far.

The generals also took their oath on Monday before President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Given the stars that you bear on your shoulders, we expect that there will be more responsibilities and more feats that you will be able to accomplish,” Gapay added.

These officers occupy the highest command positions among Company and Field Grade Officers.

Their rank’s star symbol is used in the Armed Forces of the Philippines Coat of Arms and was taken from the national flag representing the three major islands of the Philippines.
