The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Antique unanimously approved the requested PHP4.190 million budget for the month-long Binirayan Festival 2017 in December.
Antique Board Member Errol Santillan moved for the approval that was seconded by other board members present during Monday’s special session.
Binirayan Festival Executive Director Eric Otayde, who attended the special session held to deliberate the requested realignment of Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao’s Maintenance and Operating Expenses and Personal Services of her office to the Binirayan Festival budget, said the preparations for the annual festival will now be on full upswing.
“We will make the Binirayan a success,” he said.
The requested budget will be utilized for several activities such as the reenactment of the landing of the Bornean datus who in history first settled in Malandog, Hamtic town; Search for the Lin-ay (Miss Antique); subsidy for the competing Malay Ati Tribes; and promotion.
Meanwhile, Otayde assured the SP members that within 30 days after the Binirayan Festival, he would be submitting the liquidation report for the sake of transparency. (PNA)
