Anne Frank, the woman we know who wrote “The Diary of a Young Girl”. From here we can take a look at the events that have happened, and the weight behind it. Certainly, the holocaust was a terrible thing, along with the terrors of the Third Reich of the Germans, specifically the Nazi’s.
Due to the story that she wrote, we know full well of the horrors and the life that she had lived. These types of accounts are what we need in order to see everything from different perspectives.
Her account of the events of World War 2 in the eyes of a civilian, a Jewish civilian at that, shows us, who have not experienced or are well-versed in the topic, about the mistakes that were done in the past, and why they were mistakes. Certainly, we have statistical evidence about what happened, but not all of us have access to the personal accounts of certain people.
Those were not her only worries though. Being a woman, especially during that time, was difficult. Women’s rights were already limited as they were during that time, but with the control of the Reich, it was even lessened for specific target groups.
Anne Frank’s life would not be in vain however. She would be one of the most well-known women in history. When it comes to the rise of women’s rights, it would be fair to say that she had played a large part in it. She is a stepping stone to the rights that women have today.
