Manny Pacquiao, a 42-year-old and the eight-time world boxing champion, was caught up with an underwhelming defeat by a Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas in a welterweight fight held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, August 21.

Pacquiao, who was first to come back after his 2-year absence from the ring, was defeated by unanimous decision (115-113, 116-112, 116-112).

The defeat left Pacquiao uncertain about his next fight as speculations swirl that he had some plans to run for the 2022 presidency in the Philippines.

As the Philippines goes to the polls to choose a new president in the country, replacing Rodrigo Duterte in May 2022, Pacquaio himself has yet to disclose any clearer intention to run for the top job.

Meanwhile, his exclusive interview with ESPN, an American cable sports channel, asked Bernardo Osuna if the senator’s fight influenced his decision to either come back to the ring or retire?

Pacquiao said his leg cramps hampered him during his fight and thinking about retirement. “Right now, probably, I’m thinking about retirement,” Pacquiao answered.

“I’m not closing it tonight but it is 60/40,” the boxer added.

Furthermore, Pacquiao is calling his supporters to also support other young fighters (boxers) if he will step down soon.
