Some 92 medical front-liners here received on Thursday their booster shots against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said they are fully vaccinated doctors, nurses, and medical technologists from the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC), formerly known as Ospital Ning Angeles.

“Nagsimula na po tayo ngayong araw sa pagbabakuna ng booster shot para sa ating magigiting na medical practitioners (We started today the administration of booster shots to our great medical practitioners),” he said in social media post. “Napakaimportante po ng araw na ito para sa atin dahil tuloy-tuloy pong proteksyon ang sinusulong natin laban sa virus (This is a very important day for us because we are pushing for continuous protection against the virus).”

The medical front-liners who received booster shots are those who were inoculated at the city’s vaccination centers last March and April.

Lazatin’s chief adviser Irish Calaguas, who is also the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program, said the administration of booster shots for the fully vaccinated healthcare workers will receive a call for their schedule.

The recipients must present their issued vaccination cards as proof that they have previously received two doses of the vaccine, she noted.

Meanwhile, Dr. Verona Guevarra, City Health Officer, said the vaccine supplies are sufficient for the booster of doctors and nurses. (PNA)
